Energy held in immobility can be transformed…contrary to popular belief, trauma can be healed. Not only can it be healed, but in many cases it can be healed without long hours of therapy; without the painful reliving of memories, and without a continuing reliance on medication.
— Peter Levine, Waking the Tiger

Mission

"Our organization's mission is simple.

We empower survivors of sexual trauma to heal through the practice of yoga."

Hands at your heart: may we live our lives compassionately. Hands at your mouth: may we speak words of truth and of kindness. Hands at your third eye center: may we see beauty in all things. Bowing forward to seal our practice- to seal the magic we created in this room. The light in me always honors the light in you. Namaste.

⎯ Zabie Yamasaki, Founder

Method

Zabie teaches from a trauma-informed perspective. Every cue she offers in class is an empowering invitation as she reminds you that you are always in control of your own practice. There are no physical adjustments offered in class, instead verbal instruction. Students have the opportunity to create an environment in class that feels comfortable for them.

mantra

I am safe.

I am loved.

I am home.

I am in my body.

YOGA FOR SURVIVORS

a path to healing the soul.

YOGA FOR SURVIVORS

a path to healing the soul.

Reconnect

"...and I said to my body, softly- 'I want to be your friend.' It took a long breath and replied, 'I have been waiting my whole life for this.'"
- Nayyirah Waheed

Trauma-informed yoga provides the opportunity to find connection between seemingly disconnected pieces- allowing survivors to move beyond trying to find the words to articulate how they feel. The practice of trauma-informed yoga empowers survivors to tap into their inner resilience to heal.

Reclaim

"The past is over and done and has no power over me. I can begin to be free in this moment. Today's thoughts create my future- I am in charge. I now take my own power back. I am safe and I am free."
- Louise Hay

Guiding survivors to explore their bodies on their own terms, provides a foundation for an empowered body, mind and spirit.

Restore

"The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than or suffering."
- Ben Okri

Through a trauma-informed practice, survivors are invited to explore their bodies exactly as they are. There is nothing more powerful than finding the safety and freedom within.
